This is probably a very stupid question... I am 46 years old. Would you recommend I only pursue contacting a woman that has specified interest in a man my age?

I have been considering a trip to Kiev for some time now and finally have decided to aim for April when the weather starts to warm up, but I don't want to make a fool of myself by choosing women that would have no interest in a man my age... Though I plan to do the matchmaker thing, so at least they will know what I am about before they decide if they would be interested in meeting me... Any thoughts or comments?

I'd also be interested to hear any comments about this from anyone who has been to Kiev. I'd assume that most of the women have a bit of flexibility in their age requirements, but how much may depend upon the man involved. Common sense tells us that a man in his late 40s who is trim, fit, and active, with a youthful outlook, will probably fare better with the younger women than one who is overweight, sedentary, and overly burdened with the cares of life.

I am just shy of 49 myself, and I noticed that most of the women who will accept men up to 50 years old or older are the very young ones and the much older ones. For some reason it seems that many in the middle age range want someone near their own age. This is a generalization of course, but noticeable when perusing the gallery.

The very young ones make me nervous, like there might be some scam going on, or perhaps they are only out for lots of money. But it seems like a goodly number of them are willing to meet older men.

I'd assume that a women who puts 45 as her upper age limit, as many do, may stretch a few years beyond that. I certainly plan on contacting some that do so. Like you said, Larry, letting them know up front during the matchmaking procedure will let us know if they are interested or not. All they can say is no, right? I would think that if they knew a little about us up front and agreed to meet us that they must be acting in good faith.

Again, any first hand experience or expert knowledge from Brett would be appreciated.

This is probably the most commonly asked question and maybe the most important question.

As stated by others in this message board it is really up to the individual and there is no exact demarcation. We are dealing with people and people’s emotions.

If there is a lady that you feel you really like but states her age limit as below your age there is still a chance. When women are registering in our office we ask them about their age limit. If I am talking to the lady I frequently ask the lady if she would date a man of my age. They always say yes even though I may be 10 years older than the age limit they list.

Men here who are 40 usually have more than one foot in the grave. Ukrainian men age QUICK and women assume the same for men from the west. Typically western men appear 10 years younger than their Ukrainian counterpart.

With our MatchMaker service the lady will see your photos and will be able to decide about you based on your actual looks and your information. If she does not want to meet you, you have lost nothing. We will keep working for you until we have matched you with your 5 ladies.

Yo Larry, I came to Kiev to work at age 52, divorced, with two nearly grown children back in the states, and posted an advert on a free dating site. It's really the only way to meet someone if you don't speak the native languages. To my surprise I got a letter from a beautiful girl of 23. I let her know from the start that I had children and have had a vasectomy. She did not regard this as a problem.

We have lived together happily in Kiev for over a year, but lately I have realized that this is because she envisions artificial semination when she is ready to have a child. This is a cloud on the distant horizon, because she wants to establish herself professionally before getting pregnant, and it may not happen for many years. Still, I have begun wondering how cool it could be when I'm pushing 80 and she's nearing 50. Your can figure that every girl here without a child under 35 is definitely going to want one. If your idea of a "long-term relation" is for life, it's best to think things through. Do you want to be hobbling to your child's high-school graduation on a cane, and praying that you can be wheeled into the college graduation?

Living happily together for a year is a pretty cool situation Rob! Congratulations! But heck, if I was walking, hobbling, or wheeling my way to my child's graduation, I would be proud... At 59 when my oldest will graduate or at 80... Happiness is happiness, imho... But in truth, I would probably be looking for a much smaller age difference for me personally...
