What is the weather (e.g. temperatures) like during the months of January & February?

Believe it or not February 2005 was the busiest month we had in 2005!

The weather in winter here is bad but not terrible. Saint Petersburg and Moscow have much harsher winters. Kiev is relatively in the south.

The daytime temperature is normally minus 5 C or about 20 degrees F. The place is covered with snow.

That being said, it is a great time for introductions. Most of the ladies are in Kiev and are available. Frequently in the summer ladies are busy or are on vacation.

I think the winter is a great time to come.

OK, maybe you won't see the mobs of people walking on the main street (Khreshyatik) on the weekends. But you'll still see people milling about... especially in the underground malls where it's actually fairly comfortable.

I brought a heavy North Face parka with me when I went to Kiev in January to see my wife (then she was my fiancee.) The parka (with hood), jeans, boots and gloves were enough. I highly recommend a scarf and some Chapstick or lip balm. And definitely have a hood on your jacket or a hat to keep your head warm. But I'm from Southern California, so I'm not as accustomed to the cold. Even still, the above items were enough to keep me warm. If you're from a colder climate (like Minnesota), it shouldn't be any issue for you.

BTW, airfare is cheaper in the winter. Always nice to fly on cheaper flights! Spring and summer airfare is a bit more expensive.

Bob

Thanks everyone for the replies :D . I am from Minnesota, so based on what you guys are saying...it will be just like home. :D Minnesota winters are usually below zero temps and single digits temps  ...so the winter temps in Keiv won't be a problem for me. I am glad it's a good time to go since the ladies will be there. :D

Please describe the underground malls :?:

Thanks!

The main square in Kiev is Independent Square. Under Independence Square is a three story mall just like you would see in the US. It has a food court with McDonalds and many other fast food restaurants. The first and second floors have shops just like in the malls back home. On the third floor you will find several nice Cafes and restaurants.

On the second floor there is a café in the open that looks down on the first floor food court. I like to come here and have a coffee in the morning and people watch. The service is great and the coffee is the best in Kiev.

The third floor has several interesting places but I would highly suggest the Azerbyzhanian restaurant Shaharazhad. If you sit on the balcony you will look down on the mall and on your other side you can watch the show in the restaurant.

Independence Square is the heart of Kiev and is the area where you will be spending most of your time. Our office is less than 200 yards away and you can drop in any time.
